Why Does My Laptop Take Much Longer to Boot After a System Update?

    A recent update completed successfully, but ever since then my laptop takes much longer to reach the desktop. Applications also seem slower to load during the first few minutes after startup. Storage space is sufficient, and there aren't many programs configured to launch automatically. I'm trying to determine whether this is caused by background optimization, outdated drivers, system services, or something else. What troubleshooting steps would you recommend before considering a system reset or reinstall?
