Why buy this when dwg strip is completely free and works pretty much the same way. I always search for free or something before spending money. Not that I have not boughten add-ons, but this is just warning to others. To conclude, I am not trying to take business away from the folks who developed acad xtabs.

  2. If one product offers better or more refined functionality than another,
some people may decide it's worth a premium.

In any event, choices are never a bad thing for consumers.

  3. I also try to find the "Free" solution as well. But on the other hand the Author of Acad xtabs did invest His time and knowledge into the product, so it's not unreasonable for Him to request some re-imbursement. Right? As for "dwg strip" I have not kept up on it, but I don't know if it's Acad 2004 compatible. For the record I Don't use either Acad xtabs or dwg strip, I use Docbar which is also free. I'm not rich, but if I find a utility exceptionally useful and time saving I'll pay for it if that's what it takes to make my life easier. Just my 2cents ;)

I agree with you on the time saving and paying with it. Where can I find docbar?

I use a lot of tools I found at dotsoft.com developed by Terry Dotson. Don't know much about Tony, but there are many good programmers out there. Just depends on whta you are looking for.

  6. It seems that those who always want something for free or want things
given to them, don't really understand the value of ones time.

Why would one get on this NG and give out advise and answers, which is
really only cutting down on his own profits?

  7. Thanks for the kind words.

Regarding OSNAPFILTER, unbeknownst to me when I begin
that endeavor, it was already present in AutoCAD Mechanical
PowerPack (where it's called 'PowerSnap'), although it was
also a bit 'overdone' in that product (too many options).

I actually 'stole' the idea from the ObjectARX documentation
for the API function that makes it possible.

And you're not the only one with the opinion that FlatLand
is actually the best part of the deal. The best tools are
the ones that are there working constantly for you, yet their
presence is barely noticable (until you upgrade and they
    don't work any more :)

Then it must have been my mistake. Because I was under the impression that
all you got for $100 was the tab control. That by itself is not worth, at
least not to me. Was not trying to insult the programming, but again, those
things are like opinions, everyone has one and .....

    Tony,

    Two questions.

Am I right in thinking AcadXTabs cannot be undocked from the drawing window?
I ask because I use two monitors. I'd prefer to have that functionality on
the second monitor, rather than sacrifice drawing area.

FlatLand: David mentioned, "for a limited time... bundled with AcadXTabs."
Does that mean FlatLand will be, or is now, commercial software? If so I'm
not complaining. Just wondering if you are improving it in some fashion
compared to the old free version?

BTW, FlatLand (the free version I'm using now) is easily the most useful
piece of freeware I've come across in almost 20 years using CAD.

    Thanks

    David,

You are absolutely right on about Tony's programming skills. I am
running the new AcadXTabs and FlatLand for few weeks now and there is
nothing I could report to Tony!<VBG>
As for the "FlatLand" OSNAPOBJECTS, I feel sorry for everyone who
doesn't use it or doesn't have it! There was a absolute NO-GO with 2004
prior to new "FlatLand". Now it's only conditional NO-GO until I will
figure out the DWG-viewer to replace VVE, and will get the new
ACADX.ARX, but this applies only to our custom stuff. I am not 100% sure
what I want to have in the new version!

    Best regards,

    Viliam
    P.S. Tony, I can't "break it";-)
