What are the real advantages and disadvantages of running your own server instead of relying on mana

    I'm comparing the idea of hosting my own applications and data with using managed cloud solutions. My priorities are security, long-term cost, performance, scalability, maintenance, and data privacy. While self-hosting seems to provide greater control, it also appears to require more technical knowledge and ongoing management. For those who have experience with both approaches, which option has proven more practical over time? What factors should someone evaluate before deciding which deployment model best fits their needs?
