The simplest way to import MBOX into a Hotmail account (now Outlook.com) is to use an email client like Mozilla Thunderbird as a bridge. I also went through this process when moving my old mailbox, and at first, I expected a direct import option, but Hotmail does not support MBOX files directly.

First, import the MBOX file into Thunderbird. Then add your Hotmail/Outlook.com account in Thunderbird using IMAP settings. After that, simply move or drag the emails from the imported MBOX folder into your Hotmail folders. Thunderbird will sync everything automatically to the cloud, making the emails available in your Hotmail account.

This method is easy and doesn’t require advanced tools, but it can become slow if the MBOX file is large or contains many folders. In such cases, users often choose BLR MBOX Converter to make the migration smoother while keeping attachments, folder structure, and email formatting intact.

If you want a simple way to import MBOX files into Hotmail account I recommend using the Softaken Mail Importer Tool.
