VPCD crashing with gpdk090, gpdk180

  1. Hello,
I would like to use the Virtuoso Passive Component Designer
    (IC6.1.3.9, MMSIM0701179) with Cadence's gpdk090 process development
kit. I've set up the process description (Assura procfile) and
specified winding (Metal9) and bridge (Metal8) layers for a spiral
inductor, but VPCD crashes every time I try to set a ground plane
(Metal7) or a shielding plane (Metal6). I'm using the VPCD with my
MMSIM version, but I have exactly the same problem with MMSIM62. I've
also tested with gpdk180, and I see the same problem (crashing when
shielding or ground layers are specified).
Are there any ways to fix this problem? Thanks!

    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

Does the crash leave any significant error message behind ?
It's pretty hard to help you out without more details about your crash
    I'm afraid.
I have used VPCD with MMSIM62 and it worked fine for me. I'm not a
    user of the GPDKs though.
Would you mind to provide us with:
    1. The exact version of MMSIM, as output by spectre -W
    2. The error message you get.

    Regards,
    Riad.
