V8 quirks

I've had V8 for about a week, although I've been using v1 (yup I mean v1) for eons. I have a found few peculiarities which I want to sort out.
    1. I tried inserting a door symbol into a rectangular box. The symbol and the break in the line were not co-incident. They were separated by a few inches.
    2. When printing my drawing, many lines were not drawn, but they were visible on the screen.

Is this a known problem or is it my machine? I have XP-H, with an HP t45 officejet printer.

Version 8 has its quirks but...

I suspect number 1 is a setting - I am not familiar with what you are doing.

Number 2 - is this a consistent problem? Sometimes a reboot or restart
of the printer fixes this kind of issue. Also check settings in the
    printer.

Is your printer black and white or color? Printing a color drawing on a
black and white printer can cause some lines to disappear if the print
all black check block is not checked.

    Hi Len,
    Thanks for getting back.
Problem 1: as an example I created a rectangle 30'x17'. I wanted to insert a door in the centre of one side. After inserting a door, the door symbol appeared in the right place, but a gap opened up in the wall about 1' from the bottom. The gap should have been in the same place as the door symbol.

Problem 2: I have a colour printer, but the drawings I want to print were straight forward black and white. I noticed similar problems with other polyline shapes. All sides except one print, for example a hexagon would print sides 1 to 5, but 6 is not drawn. Rectangles print sides 1-3 but not side 4. If I thicken the line up, all sides print, same if I exploded the symbol with the original line thickness.

I have reinstalled autosketch, my printer driver and reinstalled my windows XPH, without change. I now have to do a fresh winXP install at the weekend, because something different screwed up during these exploits.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. In particular I would like to know if this is a common V8 problem so I can discount v8 as the source.

    Thanks
    Peter

    Hello
Had the same problem with a HP printer.
    Disconnect the printer.
    Delete all printer drivers.
    Restart windows.
    Shut down windows.
Re connect printer then restart computer.
    WinXP drivers worked for me.
I think windows & HP are the real problem.
    Hope this works.
