    Hello,

I was trying some kind of desktop publishing with Autosketch an found, that
true type fonts are not displayed and printed correct. This means, that the
ratio of hight to width within one character is not right and also the
dstances between characters is not right. This is compared to a print with
word and also to the font itself which I can check with a font editor
    program.

Are there any settings I can change to get the right apperance?

I use AutoSketch 7 under win XP.

    thank you

    Martin

    Hello Len,

    thank you for your posting.
What you suggest is the same as streching the text manually with the small
arrows, but this fixes only the ratio hight to width which is the smaller
mismatch. The distance between the characters is only a bit more than half
the value it should be and adjusting the ratio hight to width to the correct
    value makes it even smaller.

Meanwhile I tried it also with Micrografix Designer and it is all correct
    there.

Does anybody know how it is with the newer AS versions?

    Thank you

There are two methods of entering text, but neither seems to have a kerning option:
Entering via "Text Point" method allows a single line of text - handles squish, streach and rotate the text as per any other object. The height, width (aspect) and rotation angle can be specified via dialogues.
Entering via the "Text Rectangle" method will insert a 'frame' that will be filled with text; wrapping to fill the frame. Again, handles will squish and rotate per normal and sizes specified. If you go into in-line editing of the text, you can grab the edges of the frame and drag it re-size without affecting the text within it.

The justification is set from a drop down to be anywhere within a 3x3 grid (since there are no kerning options, there is also no 'full justification' option) The 'base point' of the text object will move with the alignment (but only after you select something else and come back to it).

The other method is to insert an OLE object like a word document that can have all the assosciated kerning, line spacing, etc that you would ever want.
