We have about 1,000 drawings for this project. The client decided to change
a text line (attributed) within the titleblock. This text is the same on
every drawing. Is there any software/app out there free or not, that can
search for a text string within the drawing file and replace it ....and
possibly have it as a batch type procedure?

If there isn't, we will have to have an employee open each drawing and
    change the attribute text line.

    Thanks for and help,

I have been using the following routine for a while now, works great.
Find and Replace Dtext using objectdbx.

This lets you select by way of dialog box all drawings to
modify old text string with new text string.

Sorry, I misread your post. The DBXTX routine only works for text objects.

The attached can be run from an MNL or ACADDOC.lsp or setup in SCRIPTPRO and batched.

Without knowing any more than the OP included, this is the reason we XREF in
TB's. He could have been do hours ago. 1 drawing, 1 change, no scripts to
    setup/run, no .MNL, done.

Flagellation of equine cadaver, probable conflicts outweigh possible benefits. Search forums for discussion ad nauseam

    Thanks.

I made a script file to open each drawing, run the lisp and save.

Huh? Who doesn't XREF title blocks? Probable conflicts?

We don't. Tried it once, never will again. Terrain has been covered numerous times, search forums for discussions ad nauseam.

You're welcome, glad to help. BTW, Stig Madsen over at "The Swamp" taught me a lot with that little routine. Just thought to give credit where due.

    James,
FYI, from experience. The 'Big Three' Automotive Manufacturing Engineering - all have issued 'specs'
to NOT use Xref's, Shape files, Special Objects...etc.
so portability of the .dwg's is not an issue.

The shape files I can understand; I hate getting stuff from Civil Engineers!
As far as Special Objects and XREFS that's what the AEC industry is built on
    .. . ..
