.STB plotstyle control over block insert objects

I can think of at least 4 other newsgroups to post this in - but I think I
may get the best responses here...

If a block is defined on Layer 0 with subentities of Color and Linetype
ByBlock, and then is inserted in a drawing, each individual insert can be
given its own distinct color and lintype.

Can this be done with named plotstyles as well - via particular .stb
style/settings along with subentity properties? How?

IOW, I'd like to have plotstyle control over the *individual* inserts of a
    single block definition.

Right now, I can define the block subentities to always assume a *single*
specific plotstyle - *or* to just take on the style of the insert *layer*
itself - but how about assigning the inserts *different* plotstyles while
residing on the *same* layer? (Kind of like a ByBlock property applied to
plotstyles.) Using .CTBs this is not an issue - but what do I need to do to
    accomplish this with .STBs?

I hope I have explained this sufficiently clearly - but mostly I hope there
is an easy way to do this **without** the creation of more layers (I'm
    trying to avoid this route.)

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Thanks, Robert.

Your drawing example showed inserts on different LAYERS, but the block
subentity properties were the important thing (in particular, the diagonal X
    lines)

The answer was, as usual, right in front of my nose, and it is, OBVIOUSLY:

Just set the Block subentities to Plotstyle: ByBlock - Doh!

....just like Color and Linetype. Imagine that.

Now all my plotting (on fewer layers than I ever imagined) will soon come to
    fruition!

    Muchas gracias!

What happens if you override the plotstyle on the block using STB ?

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, that's been the entire point of this little
exercise... schizo-inserts - living on the same layer yet!

    woohooo! :)

  6. Yeah, it's pretty cool. I'm able to use the same block to represent 4 very
    different looks.
