    Hi all,

I am trying to set up umc 0.18 technology process in cadence. I
updated cds.lib with the below cammand:

    DEFINE UMC_18_CMOS /software/designPackages/designPackages/UMC18/
    designkit/UMC_18_CMOS

After this I opened icfb --> In Cadence Library Manager, UMC_18_CMOS
library is being shown--> Then I created a schematic using UMC_18_CMOS
library as default --> After this when I am trying to insert any the
component, at the rightmost pane (i.e. the "view"-pane), no views are
appearing and hence I am unable to insert the symbol. It is happening
for most of the components like N_18_MM, P_18_MM, N_33_MM, P_33_MM
etc. And for very very few components like, MIMCAPS_MM, everything is
appearing as intended. I am clueless about how to solve this as I am a
    beginner in setting up cadence.

    Please help me ASAP.

    Regards
    Samiran

    1. I bet there is a document from UMC how to setup the PDK. Read it
and follow the instructions. Just adding a library might not be enough.
    2. RTFM - Read some of the documentation. A lot of resources were
invested to create them and make them useful. Best is to start with
one of the user guides ( Virtuoso Schematic Editor L User Guide for
    instance )

And don't SHOUT demanding a response, especially within 4 hours of your original
    post.

If you need urgent help, go to Cadence Customer Support. This (comp.cad.cadence)
is a community news group, and you're relying on volunteer efforts from all of
us. We all have our normal jobs to do, and respond here in our spare time.

    (thanks Marc for your suggestions).

Sorry if I bothered the members, but I did not intend to "shout".
Actually driven by prior experiences I got from this community forum,
I became over-optimistic about some positive reply after the original
    post.

    Regards
    Samiran.
