Problems with the fillet command

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Tammie Lunsford, May 20, 2004.

  1. Can anyone tell me why all of a sudden my fillet command is not working
properly. When I try to fillet a line with a zero radius it fillets the
lines to the second line's end point, no matter where it is, which changes
my first lines direction. At first I thought that the lines were
non-coplanar but I checked them and they aren't. I just can't figure this
    out. Please help!!!

    Hi Tammie,

First question, what version are you experiencing this with? Drafting Techniques NG is versionless and it helps to know where you are at.

SEE IF CHAMFER = 0 WORKS FOR YOU?

hmmm... are you using some 3rd party app or add-on?

Try prefixing the fillet command with a period. .FILLET

That will force it to use the "core" fillet command, not some redefined command. See if that helps.

Your question is not quite specific. Are the lines you are trying to fillet
such that one is 90 Deg to the other? If so, why would you be using a fillet
of zero? The only reason for a fillet of zero is if you had a radiused corner
and wanted to make it non-radiased.

I use it to extend 2 lines to meet each other. Is there a better way to do
    this?

  8. The lines are at a 90 degree angle and I am creating a corner and I am in
the habit of just using the fillet command instead of having to extend one
line and then trim the other. It takes care of two steps at once. I have
done this since Autocad 14 and now am running Autocad Land Desktop 2004 for
over a year now and this just started.

Unless it's some odd thing with LDD, I'm stuck. Like you've said further down, we've been using it to clean up corners for a long time.

Are either of the elements PLINEs? Just guessing, that shouldn't matter anyway.

agreed, fillet = 0 and chamfer = 0 is the best way to "square-off" corners. lines dont have to be 90 degrees out either, i use to on lots of entites.

Can you post an example in the customer files area? May or may not help.

  14. one is a pline and the other is not. That is one of the things I like about
using the fillet command, when you fillet a line to a pline it becomes one
    continuous line.

    anyway.

What happens if you explode the pline, then fillet?

  16. Same thing
I did discover that it is only happening in Land Desktop 2005. We have Land
Desktop 2004 and 2005, the entities that are a problem in 2005 are fine in
    2004. It's really weird.
One gentleman asked if I could post an example to the customers files
section, but when I save it as another drawing and try to get rid of stuff
to make it smaller, it quits doing it or now I am getting that "there is no
intersection between polyline and line segments" and it won't fillet at all.

Do they have different extrusion directions? Grasping at wind.

In reading the sentence in the post I would never have guessed he was using it to extend. I was making a guess that he had a filleted corner that he
wanted to square off. My crystal ball needs to go back to the shop.

List the elements and check the list.
