Problem with a SHX file

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Dennis S. Nunes, Aug 6, 2003.

  1. I have an unusual problem with a particular complex SHX file. On several
    characters (D,G, N, and L) if I type about 25 L's on a single line, each
letter drops just a litter lower than the next. By the time you get to the
end of the line it is quite noticeable, especially if a "line" is drawn
either above or below the line of text or use the %%u control code to
underline the text. All the other characters and numbers are fine.

I have the SHP file and recompiled the SHX file, but no success. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Dennis

  2. Thanks Mark for the quick reply. Here is the definition for the "L":

    *04C,33,ucl
    2,8,(18,12),1,9,(0,85),(-15,0),(0,-95),(65,0),(0,10),(-55,0),(0,82),(-5,0),
    (0,-87),(57,0),(0,0),2,8,(25,-8),0

    Thanks,
    Dennis

Gosh, am I happy to see someone that knows something about font shape files.

I have a font that was developed for R12, based on Romans. Autocad does not
recognize it for dimensions which I want for architectural drawings. This shx
file uses fractions that are a total height of whole numbers, i.e., as you would
read them in a book. When I say that autocad won't recognize it, that is not
quite true. The problem is that in using fractions, this shape file was developed
to use %%131 to be shown as 1/16, %%132=1/8, %%133=3/16, etc. When I use this in
dimensioning, it comes out as %%131, or %%132. I would appreciate your looking at
the first few lines of this shx file and telling me what I have to do so the
fractions come out as described above. I would be happy to share this file with
you if you want. It might be more helpful to do this by email if it can't be done
in this group - but let me reassure you I don't want your email for any purposes
    other than this.
