why is it that in some drawings print portrait when set to print landscape?

what should the default setting of the printer be set as? (A3 paper landscape)

Are you using an Okidata dot matrix with Release 10 AutoCad?

  6. I think that conventional printers think that "the world is in portrait
format", (i.e. data sent by default is printed in portrait) whereas plotters
think "that the world is in landscape format", so a drawing which fits the
screen well (horizontal size is the largest) will usually need rotating at
plot time for a printer, but not for a plotter.
