Pointing devices – how can I tell who’s using what?

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by PeterSCiganek, Jul 7, 2003.

  1. I need to distinguish the mousers from the digitisers in my office for loading the appropriate functions and menus. I’d hoped that the sysvar “TABMODE” would allow me to do this, but the variable is not always set to 1 when a digitiser is being used. I have searched the registry but haven’t been able to find anything that will help me yet. We are using SummaSketch with Windows XP Professional. Does anyone know a foolproof way to determine what pointing device is being used? Thank you in advance,

One way would be to examine the ACADxx.CFG file to see what's listed under
[pointing device]. Another would be to attempt setting the TABMODE variable
to 1 ... if it won't 'take' then the tablet isn't in use. Just be sure to
set it back to its initial setting (usually 0) after the check. Otherwise
the tablet users will be a little upset.
