I want to plot a passwored protected pdf file but it is too dark. The only way I can think of is save it as image files then adjust the brightness then plot. It didn' let me save to image files. I tried all other options in the 1050c plotter settings to reduce the darkness but could'nt get it to work. What other susgesstions would you advice? Thanks very much.

  2. You mean the "Lightness" control (tab "Options" -> button "Color control" ->
"Lightness" slider ) doesn't work? (I think it should, assuming printing is
allowed). There are ways to get rid of password protection, but I think it
is better to ask for a new, unprotected, file.

yes, I tried the color control to reduce the darkness. It did't make any differences. The pdf is standard detail from city and they don't give me password. How to get rid of it? Thanks

  4. You could try GhostScript; it ignores some password protections. GS converts
PostScript and PDF to image formats. It's GUI companion GSView or my
GoBatchGS may be useful if you are not familiar with command line tools. I
know there are special tools to remove password protection from PDF's, but I
don't have any links at hand and I don't want to promote them. Other
options: As you can print the PDF (be it too dark on the DesignJet), you
could also print to a format that is easy to convert to an other format, or
can even be used directly. Using a PostScript printer driver you could print
to a PostScript file that you convert to the wanted image format with
GhostScript, or you could directly print to an image format using a raster
driver (google raster+image+driver). Still wonder why you can't control the
lightness in the DesignJet driver ....
