I have assemblies with many configurations , is it possible to create
a part number to a config that combines firstly the top level assembly/
parentconfig name/filename and then secondly the assigned config name.

    For instance
    Assembly name - UH60CLS
    Config A1
    Config A2

giving a part number of UH60CLSA1..
    UH60CLSA2..

I may have upto 20 configs of a sub assembly.
Any ideas , this would help greatly as i want to have a repeatble
method over different projects but with very little editing.

If you can use a design table to create the different configurations,
then you can use concatenate to create a custom property for this.

I would put my effort into a design table as has been mentioned.

Use of the syntax =A5 & C5 with perhaps use of the TEXT() function can
    do alot in a DT.
