I realize this is not an HP forum, but I know the real users of plotters are
    in here!

I am using an HP 1050c plotter. The leading edge of my paper has begun to
wrinkle under the paper rollers on the very right side where the carriage w/
the print heads comes out of the housing. THis wrinke is causing the print
heads to drag across the paper leaving a very unsightly smear. I was just
curious if anyone else has had this problem and what was done to fix it. I
am going to upload a couple of pictures to the CF forum if anyone would like
    to take a look.

    THanks for any info.

Is the media selection correct for type used? (long shot here)
Your wrinkle may need some spool adjustment... ours does not wrinkle
quite as much as yours shows. Media weight (we use 18# TB) may make some
    difference here.

Try cleaning the ink reservoirs. Access by starting the "nozzle
replacement" but only access the cleaning stations. This is a messy job
so have plenty of wet towels handy. We had streaking problem a while
back and all it took was to clean out the "cleaning station" and the
bottom of the nozzle carriage. For us the cleaning stations got
overloaded up with ink and needed to be emptied although the jets showed
    everything was ok.

I too am using the 18 TB....My HP tech guy has suggested changing brands of
paper to see what happens. Seems like a stretch, but somethings got to be
done. I appreciate your time in looking at those photos.

Hard to tell from your picture but I had what may be a similar problem. It
turn out the environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, etc affected
the paper in this way. While the paper was in the box or still on the roll
it was protected. Load it up in the plotter and let it set awhile and it
would wrinkle at the leading edge. Our paper supplier did not care, I
switched suppliers and brand and the problem went away. Is the area
    hot/cold/himid/dry?
    Good luck,

  6. We had exactly the same problem. The guy that came out told us that our spindle was not the right one to be using. It had very small "caps" on the ends that just fit into the ends of the paper roll and allowed the paper ends to wobble out of alignment and be fed at the wrong angle. We bought new ones that have huge 6" dia "discs" at the ends and they keep the paper in line. I think HP realized this was a design error and designed new spindles. Do you have spindles with small ends?

We have the correct caps on the end...
I have changed paper brands and that seemed to fix my problem. I've been
through 2 rolls and it still is looking good. Thanks for everyone input.
