Paper space scale to reflect real scale?

Is it possible to set a drawing such that the paper space scale
reflects the real scale of the drawing?

To put it in other words, let's say that I'm drawing a model where 1
drawing unit = 1 meter and let's say that I want to print a draft of
that drawing on a 1:100 scale. Is it possible to configure a drawing
so that to be able to do that I would only need to go to the paper
space, select a viewport and in that viewport's properties set 1:100
in the standard scale dropdown menu?

    Thanks in advance,

Right click on your toolbar and choose the "viewport" selection. this
will put a scaling feature on your desktop. I moved my to be included on
the toolbar. you can then select whatever scale you want.

Unfortunately that doesn't appear to work. If a model is drawn in a 1
unit = 1 meter scale and the plot scale is 1mm = 1 unit, you get a
1:100 scale by setting the viewport to a 10:1.

Is it possible to get a 1:100 scale by setting a 1:100 viewport scale?

why not draw at full scale and then scale it in the viewport?
I must be missing what your trying to do.

I'm already doing that, drawing at full scale (1 unit = 1 meter) and
scaling it in the viewport (10:1 to get the drawing to be at a 1:100
scale). The thing is, a 1:100 viewport does not mean a 1:100 paper
scale. You also have to take into account the plotting scale.

Your piece of paper is presumably measured in millimetres, while your
drawing 'unit' is metres. So, in the Page Setup dialog, set the Plot
    Scale so that 1000mm = 1 unit.
