Note to Autodesk ...

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by michael puckett, Apr 28, 2004.

  1. Strange.

As of 11:24 PM (MST) I see

    NNTP : 42 total
    HTTP : 37 total

    Ackkk.

As an aside, but related note......as of 9:50 a.m. PDT 4/28/04 there are 35
messages showing in this thread on the Web side, yet in my OE6 only 24 are
showing. One of the 'missing' posts is one I made last night around 11:30. I
have never seen a post made on the nntp side not show up there as well,
    until now.....

Scratching head, mumbling to self.....hmmmm.....and I just got done filling
    out the survey

And at approx. 10:50 AM PDT it looks like a 'resync' event occurred, as I
just got 40 some 'new' messages ranging from around 11:30 last night to now.

    Daron and ALL -

You said "now that news reader access may be in jeopardy". This
is a UNFOUNDED RUMOR and has no basis in anything said or
implied in the survey. You may all put in your voice here as I'm
copying and sending it in. Even better , you also always have
this avenue open for comments ->

Yeah, I've had that happen twice lately... Weird huh?

Still though, after using web-based for ~2 years and being ~new to
newsreader, I find it far more productive. I'd like to keep newsreader.

This note is directly from the internal web team at Autodesk. It
is in response to reading through this group of messages and came
into my email. It dispels the rumor on NNTP access.

"The survey is just to benchmark current satisfaction with the
groups and there are no plans to take away NNTP access."

Please do not attempt to read more into that sentence then the
plain words say. May we let this be the end of the current
discussion on NNTP access being removed and return to technical
    topics?

I hope all of you take the opportunity to answer the survey. You
may also, at any time, put in feedback on the discussion groups
    at http://www.autodesk.com/discussion-feedback or
    http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=3710077

  15. Thank you Anne, GREATLY appreciated.

I believe this exercise still proved useful - it underscored
how important the NNTP side is to us.

Also, we have just saved the desk the cost of a separate sea
monkey survey to determine that very thing :)

    Thanks again.

    Sincerely,

    Michael.

  19. Hi Anne,

While I agree that this is surely only a rumour, it has opened up the
subject and provided for a very strong expression that the Newsreader access
is far more important to many users than the Web based access.

Hopefully that information will help the planners.
