My email archive contains thousands of EML files with attachments. I only need the attached documents and images, not the email messages themselves. Manually checking every email is not practical. Looking for a simple method to save all attachments from EML files into a separate folder.

I dealt with something similar when I had an old email archive containing thousands of EML files. Most of the emails had PDFs, images, and documents attached, but opening each message just to save attachments was taking forever. I first tried doing it manually but after a few hundred emails it became clear that wasn’t practical.

What worked better was extracting the attachments directly from the EML files instead of opening every email. That way, all the documents could be collected into a separate folder and sorted later. I used Mailvare Free EML Attachment Extractor for this because I only needed the attachments, not the email messages themselves.

One thing worth checking before getting started is how much disk space you have free, especially if your archive has tons of images or huge docs. Be sure to also leave your original email files alone until after you’ve verified that everything you need was saved. It will make it easier for you to verify everything should you require it.
