My last Upgrade Issue, I think....

Ok, almost done with the migration to AutoCAD 2005 from 2002. We've been
using an attribute in our sheets for a few years now that would update upon
opening the file. Basically, a lisp loading and running on startup would
fill-in the attribute value with the current date and filename. It was
configured that way, so that when we would "Batch Plot", the plot date would
get updated upon opening, and in this case plotted. Now, the 2005
"Publishing" in the background feature does not read or load lisps while
running, therefore this no longer works.

Is there a way to force the "Publishing" process to read a certain lisp file
    while it's processing each file?

I tried the Plot Stamp that comes with AutoCAD, and it doesn't work for us.
We plot sheets at different scales, sometimes within the same
publishing/batch plot session, so that won't work because the text would be
either too big or too small on certain sheets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Sam

  2. Sam,

I would advise using fields for those two data.

Great suggestion Robert. I didn't know you could use system variables in
fields. I tried it, and it works like a charm.

    Thanks again,

Oops, I didn't see the PlotDate field. I selected "Date" under "All" fields
originally, and once I realized that it was static (only picks up date and
time at the time of inserting the field), I jumped to see what was under
"SystemVariable", and saw the "Date" there, tried it and it worked like I
wanted it to work. I just now tried the "PlotDate" field, and it works
too.... so I guess we have "choices" now.

    Loving the Fields so far!

    Thanks again for the help.

  5. The nice thing about the PlotDate field is that it will only update upon a
plot, not constantly like the system variable would.

Good point. Then PlotDate it is... You just sold me on it. No need for any
extra bells to be running in memory.

    Thanks again,
