Large Assy Mode setting MAY cause File Importation Failure

After years of NEVER having any sort of problem related to the
importing of Parasolids, I had an episode of SolidWorks crashing while
reading in a large (58Mb) file.

The file had been exported by my seat of SolidWorks 2005, SP3.1 and was
being tested for "legibility" before being sent off to a consultant for
    review.

I went through all sorts of troubleshooting steps to find the cause and
won't bore you with the details. To make a long story short, it turned
out that the cause of the repeatable crashes was having the Large
Assembly Threshold set too low. With the number of resolved components
set to be less than the total number of components to be imported via
the Parasolids file, SolidWorks for some reason would simply croak...

Once I jacked up the Large Assembly Threshold number, the problem
disappeared. Unfortunately, the hair I pulled out probably won't
    reappear.

This is to serve as a Heads Up, since the same crashing problem may
arise with other Parasolids files (and data types) during data
    importation.

    Per,

The parts "do" have to be resolved to create a Parasolid. I would think that
SW would know this and resolve them for export in the background or
    something, i guess not.

  4. Thanks for posting this one. I would send it in as a bug.
