Our office has upgraded from AutoCAD 2000 to AutoCAD 2004. We use layer manger pretty regularly, however when I opened up a job and tried to access the layer manager none of my saved layer states were there. How do you import layer states from ACAD 2000 to ACAD 2004? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Did you use the create the A2K Layer states included in the Express tools? If so, they have a
    different extention "*.lay"

The Layer manager in 2004 uses the "*.LAS" extention.

You may have to do some fiddling to get them to see each other.

Compliments of Tracy Lincoln, copied from the autocad.2004 group; similar
    question:

You need to look at the Migration Assistance's Layer State Converter -
Converts between layer states created by the LMAN AutoCADĀ® Express Tool
and the new saved layer states introduced in AutoCADĀ® 2000i software. To
use the Layer States Converter, you type one of the following commands
    on the AutoCAD command line:

CONVERTLS - Converts AutoCAD layer states to LMAN layer states.

CONVERTLMAN - Converts LMAN layer states to AutoCAD layer states.

This travels with my advice... PURGE layer filters often.

Any time you insert a layout, block, drawing... the filters that are used
    within them are Added (!)
to the ones you had before.
They accumulate without limit, and become unmanagable quickly.

Purging should be done for any standard blocks/ symbols. -- See
Customization NG for tools to delete Layer Filters. There are several
    threads on the subject.

Templates may be a very useful place to collect the ones you like.
