    Hi All,

I'm sure most of you have a more sophisticated way to backup your work on
the fly but I just wanted to share something with you.

I have had hard disk crashes in the past so I was always afraid of it
happening again in the middle of a project.

I now use a "Sandisk Cruzer" flash drive plugged into a USB port. I have a
customized toolbutton with the following line:
    ^C^CQSAVE FILEDIA 0 SAVE G:project_name.dwg Y FILEDIA 1

Now I just click on that toolbutton periodically and I have a backup which I
can take to another computer at anytime.

I hope this might help some of you. Let me know what you think.

  2. Johnal,

It is the new "sneeker net"

Please note: DO NOT JUST UNPLUG IT FROM A LINUX BOX. You don't want to
    know.

I believe he means don't disconnect an external drive connected to a USB port without first closing its connection to the OS. Lost data, file corruption, a crashed OS and/or locust plagues may result...

    Thanks dblaha,

I guess, up until now, I have been lucky. I thought USB plugs could be
unplugged at any. I will have to expand my education on USB ports.

    Thanks again guys,

  6. johnal,

Down in the lower righthand corner, where the clock is, there is something
    with a green arrow?

Left click that. Stop USB Mass Storage Device - Drives(Which Drive
    Letter???)

A friend was plug into a Linux box. He didn't bother to dismount the unit.
    Trashed the thumb drive.

    Thanks Kirk,

This shows how little knowledge can be dangerous.
    I WILL be more careful.
