HP600 & WinXP

This may be Windows problem, but maybe someone out there has a clue.

I'm using Windows XP-PRO, Arch Desktop 3.3, an HP1050C and an old HP600. I've downloaded and installed the latest HP Designjet drivers for Win XP and eveything is working well with the 1050C.

With the HP600 (the driver set for the 1050 includes a driver for the 600) when I do a test print from the WinXP printer setup, all I get is a line of strange symbols down the right side of the roll. Sending a plot file from AutoCAD gets the same result. The built in demo plot on the 600 works fine.

Anyone have a suggestion? (short of taking a sledge hammer to the 600 - which I'm tempted to do)

Beware with the DesingJet 600: there were different models (C1234A numbers) withc carried the same name. (And i dont mean the difference in 24"or 36" model). The oldest models do not understand HPGL/2 but only HPGL, if i remember corretly.

The HP 600 is pretty much obsolete, we are running it with AutoCAD 2000i,
and had to move it to a draft only plotter for some hatching and screened
lines did not plot right. The updated drivers we did find were not much
    help.

When we upgrade to XP and AutoCAD2005 I have a feeling the plotter will be
put in the trash! Maybe I can talk the management to get us a faster
    plotter.

Beware of the HP600 and HP650: there were different models called HP600, but they react differently on HPGL/2.
Check the HP part number C1234A or so and see if that matches the numbers in the OEMSETUP.inf of the driver you downloaded. (open it with notepad).

Then hold that copy of the test page and check the HP web site if HP doen not give you a trade-in fee when buying a new plotter. In europe, they do have a trade in progran...

I finally got around to dealing with this problem again. Found the solution !!!

HP has a new driver (pl532en.exe) which works with the HP600 and Win XP Pro.
