I can open my PDF file, but the print option is disabled because of security restrictions. I know the correct owner password and only want to enable printing so I can take hard copies for records. Is there a safe offline way to remove the print restriction and save a new unrestricted PDF file?

Yes, you can unlock a PDF for printing if you know the correct owner password. A PDF may open normally but still block printing because the owner has disabled print permission.

First open the file in a PDF program and check the security settings. If printing is marked as “not allowed” you need to remove that print restriction and save a fresh copy.

For this work, the PDF Champ PDF Unlocker Tool is a handy offline option. Add the PDF, enter the known owner password, choose the print restriction option and save the unlocked PDF to a local folder. Since it works offline, private files do not need to be uploaded anywhere.

Keep the original file untouched and test the new PDF by printing one page first. You can also try the free demo first to check how it handles your PDF before going with the full version.
