I have MSG files arranged in different folders according to clients and projects. Each email has attachments that I need to save separately. My main concern is folder structure because I do not want all attachments mixed in one random folder. It will become confusing later. Is there any method to extract attachments from MSG files while keeping the original folder order or hierarchy?

    Hi,
In case you have some MSG files with you, just open all the messages and save all attachments manually. But this is nearly impossible with hundreds or thousands of MSG files, especially if you want to keep it structured.

In such scenarios, you can use SysTools MSG Attachment Extractor. It enables to extract attachments from multiple MSG files in bulk while maintaining the original folder structure. It also saves some filters to provide options for saving targeted attachments. It makes it easy for a user to handle their attachment data efficiently. This saves a lot of time and get attachments in your original structure.

I have run into this myself when dealing with a large set of MSG emails. Manually opening each one to save attachments is a nightmare, and it’s easy to lose track of which attachments belong to which folder.

From my personal experience, the best software that can be used to extract emails from MSG file is Softaken MSG Attachment Extractor. That is, all you have to do is specify the directory where your MSG file is located. It managed PDFs, Word documents, images, and ZIP files with ease and there was no need for having Outlook installed.

Here is a small advice that came to my mind as a result of personal experience: it is advisable to make a copy of the original MSG folder prior to the extraction process. This helped me on several occasions not to lose the file because of a mistake made during testing.
