Hi, do you mean that you want to fill an enclosed area with coloured
fill, or do you want to colour in a polyline with width that is showing
    no fill?

To achieve the first option; use the "HATCH" command, create a SOLID
hatch (it's a pattern name, click the swatch button to what else is
available), you can set this to any colour, even a gradiated fill in
which you choose a diffusion pattern and the two colours.

Alternatively, you can create a material (use the "RMAT" command) and
apply that to an entity or layer and "RENDER" the drawing, this is a
much more complex method, but you can produce some very good results
    this way.

For the second option; set "FILLMODE" to "1" and change the colour of
the line. This is very simple and the results are similarly simplistic.

Hope this helps you out and welcome to the wonderful world of AutoCad!
