Filling gap for weld bead

I have two pieces that have been cut with 0.02" clearance on both sides and
I would like to put a weld bead to join them together. The weld bead feature
won't work because there is a gap, what can I do to fix this?
Should I make a new part that fills the gap?

    Thanks Nathan

I have several friends that use SW in weld shops. The assembly weld is
useless for just the reason you are finding. If welds are necessary in the
model then they have to be manually created. This has been a known problem
    for years.

What I do is have two configurations for certain parts in the
weldment. One is a "weldment" config that has the sizes of the parts
at a nominal value so they fit. (ie. a 2" piece of tube in a 2" hole.)
The plate would then also have a "detail" config that would show the
hole at 2-1/16" for when you detail that part.

The assembly uses only weldment configs, the detail configs are only
for detailing in the drawing. Yes, it's a PIA.

The SWX method of welding parts is silly and doesn't even come close
to representing how parts are actually welded but they don't seem to
be interested in addressing it (much like most of SWX shortcomings).
I've complained for years about this.
