Extract properties list from a set of items?

I have a set of plines which vary in node count and I want to extract
a specific set of info from all the items in that set (pline length,
starting point, end point). Is it possible to print out a list of all
those variables? The closest thing I've got to that is the list
command, which is somewhat useless unless that task is performed by
hand or a special purpose parser is written for that purpose alone.

    So, any tips?

    Thanks in advance,

After a bit of digging I believe that the best option is to rely on a autolisp script to iterate through a list of elements contained in a
selection. The problem is that the information available on autolisp is scarce to say the least.

Does anyone have any experience with autolisp?
