The Network Upload method is a Microsoft-supported approach used to import PST files into Office 365 (Microsoft 365) through Azure storage.

In this method, PST files are first prepared on a local system or network drive. Then, an import job is created in the Microsoft Purview (Compliance Center), which provides a secure Azure Storage location (SAS URL). After that, the AzCopy tool is used to upload PST files directly from the system or network to the Azure storage location.

Once the upload is complete, a CSV mapping file is created to map each PST file to the correct Office 365 mailbox. This file is then uploaded into the same import job. Finally, the import process is started from the Microsoft 365 Compliance Center, and the PST data is automatically imported into the assigned mailboxes.

This method is commonly used for medium to large migrations because it is faster and more efficient than manual import and does not require Outlook. However, it still requires technical knowledge of Azure and Microsoft 365.

For an easier and more automated migration process, you can use the BLR PST Converter Tool, which helps simplify PST migration to Office 365 with less manual effort, better speed, and improved accuracy.

If you want to use the upload method for PST import in Office 365 you can do it manually through the Microsoft network upload process but it usually takes a lot of time and technical setup. You need to upload PST files to Azure storage and map the data before importing it into user mailboxes. For a simpler solution I used Softaken PST to Office 365 Importer Software. It made the entire process much easier and faster. The software directly imports PST emails, contacts, calendars and attachments into Office 365 accounts without data loss. It also supports bulk PST import and keeps the original folder structure intact. A useful option for both personal and business users.

The network upload method in Microsoft 365 lets you upload PST files to Azure storage using the AzCopy tool and then map those PSTs to user mailboxes for import into Microsoft 365. It’s useful for bulk mailbox migrations but can be a bit technical to configure manually.

For a simpler approach, Stellar Migrator for Outlook can directly import PST files into Office 365 mailboxes with less manual setup and better control over the migration process.
