anyone got problem sending files bigger than 1mb via hotmail. I just got a
512k broadband and its still so slow, ahh!
I've also tried sending via pop3 type e-mail(those given by your service
providers) and its only marginally faster.
I'm thinking of using ftp hosting services but don't know where to begin.
Please share your kind suggestions with me.Thanks

  2. I have cable and I regularly send cad files by email. Most of the time I
zip the files and the zip file (usually 1-3 MBs) takes 15-30 seconds to
send. Hotmail (and other free email addresses) usually have a "cap" on file
size but that shouldn't effect the speed, just whether or not you can
send/receive large files. If it's taking you longer than 30 seconds to send
a file I'd check your settings because I've been real happy with the speed
of my cable. Also, 512k is your download speed, what is your upload speed
like? (it's normally much lower than rated download speeds). Another
question, what email client are you using to send the files with? I use
Outlook Express and Outlook. If you're sending from a webpage maybe that's
    limiting the speeds?

  3. We use an online file storage/distribution/archiving site for distributing
larger files. For about $10 for 3 months, we get 50 MB to use as we please.
The other benefit is that your clients can download the files at their
convenience and not tie up their e-mail systems. We use
http://www.mydocsonline.com , but there are others out there also.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks for the reply. I'm using Outlook Express as well.
I sent a 1.4mb(RAR compressed) file from Hotmail to my e-mail on Outlook
Express and it takes like a minute or more to retrieve.
Perhaps I need to check my hardware or settings for the upload speed.
    Thanks.
