which would allow me to select a group of closed polylines and return their
    combined areas?

(Browsing this group before posting would have saved you having to post.)

Thank you for the routine. Now, where was that previously posted? I did not
    see it....

For future use on searching --

The discussion group search engine provides flexibility for
searching through existing message content. To search:

    1. Go to http://discussion.autodesk.com/

    2. Select a product - AutoCAD and then under it Customization.

    3. Type your keywords into the search box and click Search. Using
"area routine" without the "" brought up 118 message threads
    meeting those words.

Note: You can further refine your query by selecting a specific
discussion group from the dropdown provided. Your group choices
will vary in the drop down, based on where you have navigated on
    the discussion group site.

Search results are sorted by relevance (a complex query of all
relevant content based on your keywords and group choices).
Clicking on the message result will display the entire thread
(the series of messages and replies).

I understand how to search, but thank you anyways. I did not find 118, so I
do not have alot cached I guess. I just asked Paul because he evidently saw
something which I did not. Thank you both...

Just a tip ... when doing a search for previously posted utilities, use the
web side in Internet Explorer rather than Outlook Express, that way you
search through everything on the AutoDesk server rather than your hard drive
    cache.

Great idea, Chip! Thank you for that information. I will try that next

It wasn't anything I "saw" ... it's just that I've posted similar replies to
that same request on average of more than once a week here for the past
    several years.

I still do not see any in my cache, but next time I will search via the
internet as Chip suggested before I ask.

But again, thank you... good day...

I prefer the Google Advanced Groups Search found here
    http://www.google.com/advanced_group_search?hl=en>
Enter autodesk.autocad.customization in the 'Newsgroup' box
and your search will be limited to this forum. The search
    options are very powerful.
