How do I make my changes to Option/Display Resolution/Arc & Line Smoothness permanent?

I want to make it at least 400 but it keeps on coming back to 100.

II am tired of doing regen.

This value is stored in your template drawing. Make a backup copy of
acad.dwt (or whichever template you use). Then open acad.dwt, go to Options,
Display Resolution, Arc & Line Smoothness and change it to 400. Save and
close the file. The next new drawing you create based on this template
    should show the new value.

    Thank for the feedback.

I found the location of the acad.dwt file but how do you open the dwt file?

How do you save the changes?

With AutoCAD, just like a dwg.

First, make a copy of your original acad.dwt. If you name it something like
acaddwt.org then you won't see it in the list of templates.

Once you've done that, start a new drawing using the template acad.dwt. It
will open as "drawing1.dwg" or somesuch. Enter VIEWRES. Say Yes to 'Do you
want fast zooms?' and, when prompted, set the value higher (I'd go for at
least 1000; I have mine set to 10000).

Now go to File, Save As. Open the 'File of type' drop-down at the bottom of
the dialogue and choose AutoCAD Drawing Template (*.dwt). The Save In list
at the top of the dialogue should automatically change to your templates
folder. Name it acad.dwt and say yes to overwriting the existing.

From this point on, starting a new drawing with this template should give
you the VIEWRES setting you're after.
