I'm working on creating custom Linetypes, and have been mostly successful. My goal was to create lines with text embedded in them (ie. gas line has "G" in the line). I've managed to have text in the standard font inserted, however, i've not been able to insert other fonts. The reason for this is related to the other fonts being defined by shape files (*.shx). It is possible to shapes, but you have to know the name of them. The font i want to use is architxt.shx but i can't make the linetype description work. any help would be greatly apreciated.

Change your text style definition in the drawing

I would also suggest you create one or more text styles in the drawing, with
font set as needed, such as ARAG_COMPLEXLT1, ARAG_COMPLEXLT2, etc, then use
those styles in your linetype definition, rather than using the STANDARD
    textstyle.
You will get error messages when you try to load the .lin file if those
styles are not defined (all you need to do in that case is insert the styles
from another drawing using drawing explorer and you'll be set). The
advantage to doing this is that you will have greater control (and
stability) with regards to their appearance. (I try to avoid using
STANDARD, for anything other than for drawing cleanup and locating
inconsistencies - IOW, it is my 'trashcan' style).

    Best regards,
