I'm in the midst of upgrading to 2004, and here's the rub.

The in-house system is built on a product that modified the acad.mns/.mnu files, and now it's my task to strip out the portions I need to make a working partial menu.

wish me luck, and please have patience for all the questions I'm going to ask.

    Thanks.

    Jamie,

    Try BeyondCompare at www.Scootersoftware.com
You can use it for a trial period, but I didn't need that long to decide I
    needed to buy it!

It will allow you to compare the contents of two files side by side. (And
    much more)

You can then compare your modified acad.mnu file with the (original older
acad.mnu, which should still be on your previous version CD, if nowhere
    else, no?)

With that, you can see where modifications/additions were made which you
ought to be able to copy/paste into a new partial menu.

You are going to have a profound appreciation for the benefits of partial
menus :) at least on the next version, when you don't have to do this.

  4. My first attempt was a disaster - I tried to remove the screen menus as
well - and they are linked to the image menus etc so backup on the idea of
getting rid of the screen menu just yet.

Consulting - If you're not part of the solution, there's good money in
    prolonging the problem.

I had the benfit of starting simpler, because the existing system wasn't
wildly customized. Just a few pulldowns, toolbars, and a few image menus. It
wasn't too hard to isolate the customized stuff from what was Acad-standard.
    Good luck!
