    How one could draw a 3D curve starting with a math formula like the one for
    a parabola ?

    MicroStation V8 has the commands that enable curves to be drawn at
    extraordinary numerical precision based upon the entry of mathematical
    formulas and values. Go to the Bentley System Inc. web site, at,
    http://www.bentley.com/en-US/ ,
    and download the documention pages for those commands.
