We have a Xerox XES 8820, which mysteriously lost the line merge setting for driver version 2002, and there is no driver for 2004/5. Switching to 2000i just to plot is a tremendous pain.... if only we could unload this piece onto some unsuspecting fool...

the line merge function is inside of autocad, not the driver. All windows printers can line merge via autocad

so then, where is the setting for the XES 8820?
i'm totally curious, is there something i'm missing?
where should the setting be? because it certainly is NOT under Graphics in the Plotter Manager settings.

not sure about a 8820. I have a 8825. Every printer/plotter I have ever seen has the ability to merge lines now with
autocad. Its not like it used to be in the pre 2000 days when you needed the hardware manufacture to write autocad
drivers. Are you using the hdi drivers or the windows drivers?

    we've tried everything.
in 2000i, the printer has line merge as a graphics setting.
    in 2002/4/5, it doesn't.

same as in Adobe Postscript, printer, no line merge.

how did you get it to line merge in 04?

    I'm using acad 2002 and 2005.
Right now I have a win 2003 print que server.
    Using the windows driver
    AccXES HPGL/2 driver version 9.2.5

In the past like R14 era, line merging would only work in hpgl2. But now line merging is working for other print
    languages like pcl5.

hey, what do you know. just for kicks, I tried installing it again, and it worked fine this time.

So, you have any magic you can share regarding the Adobe Postscript plotter driver now? :) as it is, when we have to send something to Photoshop with a bunch of half-tones, we print one copy to Postscript with the halftone layers turned off, and one with them on, then just merge the two layers in Photoshop.

ouch I know nothing about postscript. I do know that you need a postscript option in most printers. Try the print-plot
    group?
