Does anyone have rail section and crane rail section blocks? In particular a 135 lbs crane rail?
Maybe not much help but if you know of a structural engineer who's cooperative, ask him if there is anything in the AISC Steel Handbook in the "Details For Dimensioning" section showing these. Also try a search on Google.
A couple of other sources for crane rail information are: Thomasregister.com and: atlanticrail.com Both found using "crane rails" as search keyword on google.com BTW: Atlantic Rail's illustration of 135 lb rail has the same information as posted by Walt E. Hope this helps....some.
You know what irritates me? I went to a lot of trouble scanning my AISC manual, then making a pdf file and then sending the missing information with the pdf attached and no "thanks". Getting to the point that it's not worth the trouble.
Walt - Doesn't look like the original poster Jeff has logged back in yet so he's not had a chance to say thanks. I sure enjoy seeing all the answers folk get.
Just have to remember Walt, when you help one person, you help a whole lot of others that are just watching the fun. You should also think about it like, you helped someone very busy get back to it and get his job done. I know sometimes it's hard to remember, but personal satisfaction really is worth more than what other people think. That's one I keep having to remind myself of. I've wanted to write a program to do steel shapes for a long time now. I'd like to have the aisc steel manuals too, but due to never having made any money from the programming part, I figure the payback may be a little slow. :O) Anyway, just know that someone has gotten back to work because you helped him. That's a good thing. Have fun, Dave
True, but as I mentioned, there was a LOT of work in answering that post - scanning, printing to pdf file, cropping on Photoshop, composing note with dimensions (and having to use magnifying glass to see the fine print) and attaching pdf. My comment was "an aside" as I don't really expect thanks for everything - just the notes that are obviously difficult.
Walt: We all feel the same once in a while. In another thread, I responded to a plea from an Aussie who needed some special symbols in an older version of an ISOXXXXX font. I opening up the source file, coded in the characters he needed, and reformated the entire font in UNIFONT format just so it would be more contemporary. I asked him to post a note to let me know whether or not it solved his problem. This was back in June or July....haven't heard a WORD. BTW: Your response to crane rails prompted me to go back and look in one of my US Steel books from 1970. There are two pages of intensly dimensioned drawings plus details and narrative on clips and recommended spacings. I don't have a flatbed scanner or I would send them to you just for your trouble. Maybe I'll figure out some way of doing it -just so you have some other source. I appreciate your responses to posts in these forums even if you do occasionally dump on me! teiarch
Never intended to "dump" on you or anyone else. Never my intention. Anyway, I was just making a comment which I think should be noted by the many, many others who help users and never get a word of thanks.
Its not really the thanks.... We all know when we help someone the thanks is sort of implied but it would be nice to know if what you did helped the person or not. Rick
YES! Rick is right. A simple..."I got it, tried it and it (helps/doesn't help)" would be sufficient in many cases. Maybe moderators should institute some common courtesy feedback suggestions???? -as if they didn't have enough to do. Oh, well, we'll keep on responding anyway, won't we?
THANK YOU FOR THE INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I could of done all of that myself ......I originally posted, asking if someone has any cad blocks of the rails not the information. Try reading the posts more carefully.
MAYBE the poster doesn't check daily, hourly or every minute .....maybe the poster is outside the office or on vacation. I was out of town on business ......so sorry that I'm not glued to my computer like some. help)" would be sufficient in many cases. suggestions???? -as if they didn't have enough to do.
If you could have "done all that" yourself, why ask someone else to do your work for you? Next time, just tell all that you're too lazy and want someone to give their time to you.
I was looking for ONE block .....others have asked for blocks before and I/and others have given them the block. Its not about being lazy ....its about helping others out. I am not asking if they can drawing the block.....I was asking if they already had the block that they can give. What's with the bug up your @$$? There are places you can go to help your rage. You think you helped by copying pages out of book and publishing them on the net (which I believe is illegal without consent from author). enough wasting my time on you .........it must be getting close to Christmas, we have a scrooge among us.
