Cost and trial?

Discussion in 'Microstation' started by news.plus.net, Nov 18, 2003.

  1. How much is Microstation to buy and where can I get a trial version?

  2. You can call 1-800-BENTLEY and ask those questions.

  4. And if you are moving to Microstation from another competitive product,
there may also be some pricing incentives.

If you are a student, there is academic pricing also.

    Good afternoon.
If you are not into rendering, model, GIS, etc. and plan to use it
only for drafting (2D/3D) then I would suggest that you try
IntelliCAD. I think Cad Manufacturing Solutions sells a license copy
    for less than $100.

    Try it first.

Our company has been using Microstation for the past 10~ years and as
of last year we tried IntelliCAD due to the price mainly and what do
you know, it was OK. I sometimes cringe at the wasted money that we
had to pay to Bentley when for the price of $100 we could have gotten
a CAD software without the "HYPE" from the Bentley brothers.

Open Source is the way to go.

In many areas of computing it is (of course), but in what way this relates to IntelliCAD?

    Just curious,

    GOOD ADVICE!
For mundane drafting tasks, Microstation or AutoCAD (including the
    'Lite'
    versions) are "Sledgehammer-to-crack-a-nut" IMO.

Worse, compared to more modern systems they are sadly lacking in
    capabilities-
yet still cost outrageous $$$. Rabid fans will back their choice no
matter the evidence; what psychologists term 'Denial'?? :))

  10. Intellicad is based on source codes that are available to different
CAD developers. It is not being hidden in the archives of AutoDESK or
    Bentley.

Chris Z., have you noticed how the price of CAD softwares
specifically Microstation & AutoCAD are steady at around $2,000~ +
Select + Maintenance Fee + Upgrade Options + Engineering
Configurations + B@3n##ERW!!!W + Viecon (whatever happened to that
    service??!)

Most of the products of Bentley are the same!!!, For example, they
added Topology Editing + Database Connection and they call it
Geoengineering EC for the GIS field. They added 10+ mdls and they sell
    it as a different product.

The same function I can get with Intellicad and use a free LSP
function to create topology!... that's $100+ and some internet time to
    download the free LSPs.

It is time to use your money wisely guys!!!
