Configurations not as saved?

Just installed 2005 (skipped SW2004), OS is Windows 2000 SP4

I have an assembly with some wires (for lack of other terms). The
wires have a untrimmed and trimmed configuration. The assembly has
only the Default configuration and calls out the wires as a trimmed
config. I save and close the assembly this way. Next day open the
assembly and the untrimmed wire is there not the trimmed version that
was saved. Regen, no change. I bring up the "Wire" and toggle config's
back and forth, works fine. Go back to the assembly and try regen
again, no change. Suppress the part and then restore, now looks
    correct.

What gives? This shows and prints out on our drawings as well.

  2. Was the assy maybe calling the "last saved" config of the wire? That's my
    only thought for now.

Actually there are two of the same part in the assembly file. One
shows okay and the other is not. They both have the same configuration
properties for the top level assembly they are in. It's just one of
them refuses to load/regen correctly until I suppress it/restore it.

Forgot this in the last response:

Each part property is set as "Use Named Configuration" and both parts
are set to show the same configuration. So I should see both parts as
I'd expect. Not sure why only one does it and the other doesn't at the
same time. I've seen the config alternate between the two parts just
to make it interesting. Makes for an interesting morning (which one
are you going to see today...).

Is search referenced file locations checked in options?

Do you have specific file reference locations set up in options?
