On 2000i if I make a quarter circle and go through
    tools>inquiry>area by selecting points and
tracing the arc, the arc is ignored and it gives me
the area of the triangle. If I create an object block
out of it, the response is object has no area.

    Any ideas?

  2. Not sure about older versions, but here's one way you can do this in
    A2K10.

Assuming you have an arc drawn:

Area > Click one of the endpoints of the arc > select Arc option >
Choose second point and click on any point on the arc other than the
two end-points (midpoint is easy) > Select second end point of arc >
    Press 'Enter'.

Here is extract from the text window:

    Command: area

Specify first corner point or [Object/Add area/Subtract area]
    <Object>: end
    of
Specify next point or [Arc/Length/Undo]: a

    Specify endpoint of arc or
    [Angle/CEnter/Direction/Line/Radius/Second pt/Undo]: s

Specify second point on arc: mid
    of
Specify end point of arc: end
    of
    Specify endpoint of arc or
    [Angle/CEnter/CLose/Direction/Line/Radius/Second pt/Undo]:

    Area = 9.8922, Perimeter = 19.4298

    Hope this helps.
