I have a block in a sheet format. In the block are various notes.
Some, but not all notes, have the annoying habit of wrapping when
saving the drawing or the sheet format and possibly at other times.
For example I have a two line note that insists on becoming a three
line note. Has anybody seen this?

  2. Yes, and have worked extensively to figure it out. It appears that one of
the factors is if the last line is shorter than the others. You don't have
to even save anything - just rebuild a couple times. It's also not fixed in
    2007 SP3.1 yet.

A workaround is to put hard returns in instead of using dynamic text. This
is an ongoing investigation for me with SW and I will post answers when I
    receive them.

One of the problem notes is a one liner:

    PER ASME Y19.4M-1994

    which ends up:

    PER ASME Y19.4M
    -1994

  5. I haven't seen it myself, but one of the other guys has had it happen on one
of his drawings. As I recall, it would look OK in a print preview, but would
wrap differently in the actual print. I think it also would look OK before a
save, and then shorten when he recalled it again. I think it is behaving
itself now, but I don't think he knows why it went bad or why it seems to be
OK now. I will try to remember to ask him about it tomorrow.

One of the things about the new note methods I haven't figured out is
how to make the note a fixed width. If you want a note to
automatically wrap, for instance for a description field on a title
block, there doesn't seem to be a way to fix the size of the note
"box" width. On the other hand, it may also be desirable to have a
note be a fixed height and not to wrap. I don't see any settings to
control this either. Then add to this the behavior in a block and you
    have an almost intractable problem.

  7. OK, here is the real scoop from Tim. I got it right that it looked OK in the
print preview and would shorten when he tried to print it. He could watch it
change the wrap when he was in the print menu. He couldn't remember for sure
if he had problems with saves, but suspects that it was the print problem
manifesting itself. The way he got around the problem was to print to pdf,
then print the pdf file. He'll be modifying that same drawing in a few days,
so we'll see what happens this time.

I usually see it change the most when exiting the edit block mode. But
it will also change when saving either the sheet format or the drawing
itself. I just got the bright idea to do a force rebuild through the
API as this will cause a total rebuild. Printing and saving sometimes
    cause a forced rebuild.

  9. SPR 347014 Text alignment and wrapping not stable in block attributes.

Been working on this one for quite some time. We found that there was
something in my template that was making the problem worse. I was sent a
fresh template, and the problem almost disappeared. I say almost because I
got it to happen once, but then couldn't repeat it. So I still don't know
the exact cause, but indications are that it will get better. Unfortunately
we also didn't come up with anything I can do to make all of my existing
    templates & blocks behave better.

    Here is the official workaround.
    1. Resize the text inside the block
    2. Copy and paste the text into a word file
    3. Copy and past again the text from word into the block text block
    4. Exit from the block editing and try to move the block you'll find out
that now the text inside the block doesn't move.

I just put in hard returns - seems to work.
