    Hi!

We are currently using AutoSketch 8.0 to view drawings created in AutoCAD 2000. We've recently started upgrading our version of AutoCAD to 2004 and, in some other areas, 2005. AutoSketch 8.0 doesn't allow any drawings saved in 2004 or 2005 format. Does AutoSketch 9.0 open AutoCAD 2004 and/or AutoCAD 2005 drawings?

    Thanks!

AS 9 will open 2004 format. Is 2005 format different?

Also AS Version 8 or 9 will only view the model section of the DWG. And
some things may not transfer in properly.

However I wonder if AS is the correct program for you. If you are
opening and viewing, would Voloview be better? It will allow you to see
    paper space properly.

If viewing, reviewing for AutoCAD.dwg look at the new Autodesk Composer
    product.

We currently use both VoloView and AutoSketch, for viewing and for minor changes to drawings. Now that a lot of our drawings are saved in 2004/2005 format, AS will not view them. I guess we will have to upgrade to AS9...

AS is not 100% DWG compatible so there will be changes to the DWG
    drawing when you save.

If your drawings are simple, the changes may not be noticed. More
advanced drawings will loose symbol multiple layers, dimensions will be
exploded, text will move or be distorted, paper space will be gone...

If you understand all this and format you drawings just so, you can go
back and forth with little effect on printed drawings.
