    Upgrade
AutoSketch® 9 is an all-new version of the popular 2D precision drawing
application. With a familiar user interface, AutoSketch 9 contains many new
features and product enhancements that make it a worthwhile upgrade for
users of previous versions of AutoSketch, as well as for users of Autodesk®
    QuickCAD.

    NEW FEATURES

New Symbol Libraries-In response to requests, more than 30 symbol libraries
have been added in the following categories: architectural design, landscape
and site design, discrete electronics, integrated circuits, PC boards, plant
    design, and piping.

Lineweights-Produce crisp, high-quality drawings. AutoSketch 9 now supports
24 lineweights, ranging from 0.00 mm to 2.11 mm.

Fill for Circles and Ellipses-Quickly fill and hatch circles and ellipses,
just as you would any other shape.

Updated Layer Management-Work more efficiently with user-friendly layer
controls. Layer management and terminology is similar to industry standards
used in the last several versions of AutoCAD® software.

In-Place Text Editor Improvements-Edit text in a more intuitive and usable
workspace. The software includes improvements to in-place text editing that
increase usability. For example, text with word wrap enabled now has a
border that designers can drag to graphically redefine the wrap width.

Communication Center-Receive up-to-the-minute notifications when product
updates and learning materials become available.

It's the same carp as Version 7/8.

Lineweight enhancements are a long time coming though.....not to mention
resizeable Layer dialogue box. That's ALL I have to say about.

It's a shame your below mentioned features summarise AutoDesk's complete
waste of time. You forgot to mention that QuickCAD is no more.

Sorry about the bad publicity on the first day.....but that's the way it is.

  3. Hmm well extra line widths plus sorting out the bloody frustrating layer
setup would be worth upgrading for IMHO, just as long as it's backward
compatible if I choose to uninstall it....

AutoSketch 9 is not backward compatible with QuickCAD versions 7/8. That's
with both the alpha & beta versions. I doubt whether it was changed prior
    to final release.

One must physically rename the file extension from 'skf' to 'cad'. Then I
believe it's compatible. Personally, I haven't tested it.

    AS 9?.............you can keep it.
Why have you done it........it's still Autosketch?

Maybe if you put in some useful features eg
open and save as more file formats............DWF, TCW, DNG etc.

    UPDATE:

AS9 is backward compatible with versions 7 & 8......which means it is also
backward compatible with QuickCAD 7 & 8 as it will open V7/8 .skf files.
One can also rename the extension to .cad if they wish.
