When Layers are locked....solid fills print as a shade of grey OR do not
print at all. Unlock the layers and everything prints black. Locked Layer
    colour is grey (my standard).

Changed the Locked Layer colour to white.....everything fine. Changed the
Locked Layer colour to black.....everything fine. Changed the Locked Layer
colour to Dark Grey.....nearly but not quite. Can't be bothered with the
colours.....have you ever tried using a red, blue or yellow Locked Layer
    colour.....???? Not for the faint-hearted.....!!!!

'Print All Black' is checked, 'Invert Pen' is checked & 'Invert Pattern' is
checked. I work with a black page.

Saved the .skf as an .skf 7/8 file and opened it in QuickCAD 8. Layers
print as expected.....all solid black in both Editable & Background states.
Using grey as my standard Locked Layer colour.

Happens with both my printers.....an HP LaserJet 6P and an HP DesignJet 130.

Yea - I found this - the solution I use is to set the "locked layer colour" to "Entity Colour" (Graphic options- layers - bottom of dialogue)

Many thanks for your reply Gadget....it looks like AutoDesk Support has
abandoned their new product already...!!! Where's Volker....???

Your work-around works...however what God giveths in the left hand, he
taketh away from the right hand (this happens a lot with QC/AS). I like to
visually see the layer is actually in the "background" state. Then again,
that's probably what I am used to seeing and it may simply be time to adjust
my brain patterns. God help us all.....!!!!

All that aside.....it's still a bug and it should be patched.

So switch it to "Entity", Print and switch it back to "grey".
OK, not ideal, but better than nothing... until a patch is released. <-hopes

Why would I wish to do that...??? That's a waste of productivity.

Mind you, it's not me I'm worried about....it's the other 250+ QuickCAD 7/8
users within our company I am concerned with....!!! That's 250+ potential
    AutoSketch sales.

The bottom line is that it's still a bug and if AutoDesk feel it not to be a
priority to rectify the problem....that's fine by me. We will kick along
with QuickCAD 7/8 until it runs dry.

They also need to rectify the text justification (export into .dwg) issue.

In a sad way, I am glad QuickCAD is finished.....it now makes way for
AutoSketch to be the complete bottom end of the AutoDesk range of product.

Autodesk have made a change to AS9. (After Paul's request?)

All locked (background) layers now prints in Locked Layer color. As set in
Layer properties. In AS5/6/8 they printed in entity color.

If Locked Layer Color is set to white, - AS9 probably change that to black
to make it visible. (In AutoCAD white is actually black!)

May opinion: Stupid change, but no bug

Yes.....I seem to recall that. Didn't make any sense then....doesn't make
    any sense now.

    You're right....stupid change. For what reason.....Paul...???

I certainly hope you're not responsible for screwing around with my
vectorised colour logos (complete with custom RGB palettes). I would also
like to think you are not responsible for my lovely "teal" turning into "a
shade of medium lime/green". The "teal" doesn't print all black except as
    per Gadget's work-around.

    That's right.....you like inserting/embedding company logos as
    ..bmp's.....!!!!.....RASTER....yuk.

    So it's a /feature/ ?!

I agree; a bit naff. Perhaps if this tic-box was moved to the print dialogue it would make more sense.

    Hello

Yes, this is a feature requested during the beta process.

By having background (locked) layers print as the background colour, the
drawing will print exactly what you see on the page. This is very useful
for ghosting layers such as walls that are below or above the current
location or services that are located on the file without them printing full
    colour.

And, if you want the true colour, all you have to do is spend five seconds
changing the value in the layer properties box.

Once again a neat feature ahead of the pack of also-ran CAD products.

    Paul

dialogue it would make more sense.

    5 Seconds...???...pigs arse....!!!

Have a look through all the alpha/beta notes. You will see I spend
considerable time with custom palettes. Pain in the butt. Just like
    everything else with this software.

That's right....I forgot. You like bitmaps.

At the same time, I am not forgetting the fish in coconut sauce....OK...???

My back ground layers are all grey so this does help when I print in
    AutoSketch.

And, if you want the true colour, all you have to do is spend five
As opposed to 0.5 seconds if it was an option on the print dialogue.
