Autocad 2000 IPX license to IP license

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Steve Downing, Apr 6, 2004.

  1. We are moving away from Netware, so I'm trying to force our Autocad 200 clients to pickup their license from a Win2k server.

I've installed the Elan ADLM on the Win2k box, and gotten it reauthorised.
I've downloaded the adesksys.dll for Windows 2000 TCP/IP clients, and placed that with Acad.exe.
I've set ACADSERVER=@SYDPC2090, which is the new license server.
I can query the license server using the TCP/IP WinQuery, and it tell me the correct license server.
Both the license server and my client machine do not have IPX or Netware client installed (they previously did).
They can both ping each other by name.

BUT when I start AutoCAD, I can't get a license!! Arrgh!

So I upped the verbosity level of the ALDM, an extrected this from the logs:

    04-Apr-07 08:20:11: steven.dow@Sydpc2159 [1]: Disconnected.

It seems to connect, but then the client tells me the Security system is not installed, and a few minutes later the adlm decides it's gone zombie.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Since time is short I'm trying to do it the quick way, rather than re-install/upgrade a bunch of machines...
    regards
    Steve

Did you place the adesksys.dll on every client machine ?

  3. Hi Steve,

    just two guesses:
    1. Have you checked the time and date on the server an your workstions?
(The default user in W2K isn't allowed to change the station time).
    2. On your server you should make the following changes in the "ADLM" in
    the "System settings":
    1. stop the ADLM
    2. in the "Settings..." set the following values:
    - Zombie Timeout: 180
    - Verbosity: 9
    3. Start the ADLM
    3. Have you set the "ACADSERVER" variable in the "Systemvariables" or
    the "User defined Variables"?
    Hope something helps
