This is in reference to my post on 4-27-2004 entitled "Poor image quality in Acad 2005". I am inserting the tiff using the image command (Image>Attach). The raster and OLE are set to best in the pc3 editor. I printed to an HP 5000 and the image quality was fine. The image quality on the 1055cm is worse when I print half-size. The print appears to be both black and grayscale. Remember, when I plot from Acad2004 using the same pc3, the image quality is fine.

    Thanks for your help!

  2. Thanks, bradskin, this is a big help. I'll be looking into it.

  3. I have been able to reproduce a differing quality image between the 5000 and
the 1055CM, as you describe. I am now going back to a 2004 build to try and
determine what differs in the code. Will keep you posted. Thanks for the
    clarification.

  4. I have now compared a TIFF image inserted as you describe on both Acad 2004
and Acad 2005. I tried both A size and D size plots (when you say 1/2 size
below, you didn't say half of what...). On the 1055cm, I see *no
discernable difference* in the quality of my test image, which is a
photograph of a meadow, trees, sky. Just for comparison, I also plotted
from both 2004 and 2005 to the following additional HP designjets: 120,
450C, 650C, 800 HPGL and 5000 HPGL. In no case did I observe a discernable
difference between the images on 2004 vs. 2005, although there is a wide
range of difference in the quality from printer model to printer model.

I do not deny that you are seeing the problem, but so far, I don't appear to
have a good test case to reproduce it.

It would really help if you could send me the files that you are using: the
DWG, the PC3 and the TIFF. Please also state the level of confidentiality
of your files - for example, is it important that they be used only to
perform this test for this purpose, or may they be used internally at
Autodesk for future testing. Or, if you are unable to share these
particular files, can you create sample files that exhibit the same problem.

It would also help considerably if you could scan your 2004 vs. 2005
printout and send the scans, along with a description of exactly in what way
    the quality differs.

Also, what system printer driver version are you using with your 1055CM (I
am using 4.65 for win2000/XP). HP updated the system drivers for 2005, if
you are using older versions (either on the print server or on the local
machine), there could be an incompatibility with 2005.
