Assigning weight in a subassembly

Hi all. I'm working with a sub-assembly that doesn't have all the
correct mass properties assigned to parts. I have the actual physical
assembly and can weigh it to obtain the correct weight. Does anyone
know how I can assign that weight to the assembly so that I can
calculate the total mass of the top level? Thanks

Do 'Edit>Setup>Mass Props'. In the 'Source' selection window, pick Geometry
and Parameters. Under actions, pick Edit. Fill in the Mass (your measured
weight) and Volume (which you get from 'Analysis>Model Analysis'). Then
click Generate Report. You'll see the supplied mass and volume with a
calculated average density. When you do the analysis of the assembly that
this sub goes into, be sure to click Assign when it asks about how to deal
    with the sub.

Thanks, I'll give it a try when I get the weights (next week).

Thanks, this seemed to work. The only thing I noticed is that I can't
have it stay with that model. It seems to only stay applied while in
that session. I'll need to mess around a little more with it as I'm
not sure what the difference is between the 3 options (read only, upon
    regeneration,)

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Go to 'Tools>Parameters', look at the bottom of the window and find where is says Main. Expand that window and click on Reported Mass Properties. You should see all the parameters that were filled out when you did Generate Report. They are saved with the part or assembly.

Also, when you do 'Analysis>Model>Mass Properties', click the radio button by Feature. A default name will activate like Mass_Prop_1, meaning you're actually creating a persistent feature. On the Feature tab, you'll see some checked Parameters like Volume, Area and Mass that are given values. In the Regenerate window, you can set this feature to be read only or to regen always or acquire new values when the model regens.
    See above
