I recently installed AS 9.0 on a machine that has QC7 on it. If I save a new AS 9.0 file as a .CAD file (so that others within the organization with QuickCAD can read the file) and then try to open it in QuickCAD, I get an error stating that it is an older file version and that QC can not read it. If I attempt to open any SKF with QC7 I get the same error ---- older file version. I have no problems opening files (using AS 9.0) that were created in QC7. It seems that AS 9.0 is saving the files as a .CAD file that is not compatible with QC7. Does anybody have any insight into why this happening? Is there a workaround?
Yes.....there is a work-around. File>Save As>drop down Files of type dialogue box......select AutoSketchV7/V8(*.SKF) Then go into Windows Explorer and rename the file from an .SKF file extension to a .CAD extension......it will open just fine in QuickCAD 7/8. Dumb....I agree. Don't shoot the messenger....!!!! Ric Norris. http://users.bigpond.net.au/cavedrawings
